PlateopBot

PlateopBot is the fetcher used by Plateop (https://plateop.com). Our requests carry the product token PlateopBot in the User-Agent. That is how you recognise them in your server logs.

The full User-Agent string:

Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; PlateopBot/1.0; +https://plateop.com/bot)

What PlateopBot does

  • Fetches exactly one listing page. That only happens when a user pastes that link into Plateop themselves.
  • Reads the asking price, the mileage and details such as year, fuel type and transmission.
  • Uses that data only for that same user's report.

What PlateopBot does not do

  • Does not crawl or index any website.
  • Does not collect listings in bulk. There is no list of listings we work through.
  • Does not store listing content as a database of our own. Does not cache, republish or resell that content.
  • Does not bypass bot walls, login screens, or other access controls.

What PlateopBot respects

  • We fetch robots.txt live for every host. We also read a general User-agent: * group. Does a site exclude us? Then we do not visit that site. Are we unsure what robots.txt says? Then we do not fetch the page.
  • Sensible rate limits: we limit requests per user. We never hammer a site with repeated requests.
  • A clear User-Agent with the product token PlateopBot, so you can always recognise us.
